English Semester 1
Projects we did:
Letter to the teacher: We wrote a letter to the teacher explaining our strengths and weaknesses, things we learned from previous years, etc.
I am From: We wrote a poem based off a template describing our lifestyle, based on saying "I am From", for example, if we were from City X, and it asked which city we were from, we would say "I am from City X", and so on so forth, talking about other things like what we like, who we are, etc.
Research Groups: We did a presentation based on something important/controversial with groups. These presentations were based on Native Americans, how they were treated, their lifestyles, etc. I did a project with four others about Native American Boarding Schools, which were in fact very controversial.
Watermark: We wrote a story based off of our life, which was a lasting impression. We were required to use hooks, or pieces in the story which grab the reader's attention. I was also was required to use word painting, which paint stories with color (metaphorically). My story was how My trip to Canada, because it affected me.
Cherished Object: We wrote an essay on an object we cherished. We had to thoroughly write about it. My cherished object was a Hot Wheels 1964 Ford Thunderbolt. Just in case you didn't know, I collect Hot Wheels.
TEDx Talk: We had to write a speech, specificsally, a TEDx talk, using proper writing and using statistics. We then, after editing, and fixing, when up in front of the class and preformed our speech.

English Semester 2
Social Justice Poem: We wrote a song based on our Social Justice issue.
Social Justice Music Video: After voting the best song, six people were nominated to make a music video and the class were put in teams and were given roles to make a music video based on the song. Our song was called "Pieces of a Puzzle"
Journal: This project was based off of the book The Martian. In this project we had to create a journal for a character that we created, who just suffered a near-death experience.
Creative Journal and Artifact: After writing our journal, we had to make a physical copy of it, and damage it as if it actually went through what happened in the book. We also had to create a handmade, or use an old item that our character used. My artifacts were the journal that my character wrote the stories in, and the phone that "survived" the tsunami.
